POKOTABI / PLACES WORTH A DETOUR
旬菜 ふじ井
Fluffy dashimaki tamago, silky chawanmushi, sashimi platters and seasonal fish dishes are among the options at Fujii. Choose a set menu or individual dishes for dinner.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Some diners remember the fluffy texture of the dashimaki tamago, a rolled omelette flavoured with dashi, and the silky chawanmushi, a savoury steamed egg custard. At Fujii, you can build a meal around the dishes that appeal to you, starting with these dashi-rich favourites and moving on to sashimi or grilled items. One diner who enjoyed the omelette also singled out the chawanmushi and a dashi-flavoured fish-ball soup. These are appealing choices when you want to savour the flavour of dashi.
Several diners mention the sashimi platter as a standout. Their comments also note the flavour of the fish, dishes made with seasonal ingredients and careful presentation. Menu options include hamo tempura, grilled barracuda and wakatake-ni, simmered bamboo shoots with wakame. There is plenty to choose from whether you would like to share small seafood dishes or opt for grilled fish and soup. Another diner enjoyed saikyo-yaki managatsuo—pomfret marinated in Saikyo-style miso—as well as wakatake-ni. Seasonal dishes change, so if there is something in particular you would like to try, it is worth checking when you make a reservation.
For a final course, there are options such as Inaniwa udon and kama-meshi, rice cooked in a pot. One diner recalled kama-meshi with firefly squid, and the menu has also featured rice cooked with koppe crab. A diner reported that suppon hot pot, made with soft-shelled turtle, was available as an individual pot, making it an option for solo dining as well as sharing. Diners describe a choice of set menus and individual dishes, and you can eat at the counter. Reservations are accepted, and dinner reservations are recommended, so planning ahead is a good idea.
